Dembélé, False Alarm
Ousmane Dembélé suffered a minor muscle issue that briefly raised concern at PSG, but the club has confirmed he will be available for the Champions League final against Arsenal.
Ousmane Dembélé is suffering from a minor discomfort in the right thigh, although his presence in the Champions League final against Arsenal is not in danger. It was a moment that made PSG fans’ hearts sink. A muscle strain that could have become a serious problem for the reigning European champions. In the final Ligue 1 match of the season, Ousmane Dembélé asked to be substituted in the 28th minute of the derby against Paris FC. He left the pitch walking and without showing any visible signs of pain, but the substitution immediately raised alarm in Paris.
In a press conference, Luis Enrique stated he “knew nothing” about the injury at the time, although he did not appear concerned. The Spanish coach insisted it “does not seem serious” and that they would wait for Monday’s medical tests. Later, PSG confirmed in an official medical report that the player has a minor injury in his right calf, although his participation in the Champions League final on May 30 is not in danger.
“The player was substituted as a precaution during last night’s match against Paris FC due to muscular discomfort in his right calf. He will remain under treatment in the coming days,” the Paris club stated.
The decision to take him off was purely preventive, as PSG had already secured the Ligue 1 title and there was no need to risk the player so close to the decisive stage of the season. Any discomfort, no matter how small, is being handled with maximum caution, also considering the upcoming World Cup.
Dembélé will rest in the coming days and, barring any setbacks, is expected to arrive in optimal condition for the final against Arsenal. PSG has two weeks to prepare for the clash against the Gunners, where the French forward is seen as a key figure. This season, however, the forward has already suffered several minor physical issues, although none have prevented him from remaining a fundamental piece in Luis Enrique’s system in the Champions League. The Ballon d’Or contender will be in Budapest. Paris breathes a sigh of relief.
