Arsenal players emotional after PSG defeat according to Arteta
Arsenal were beaten 2-1 in the Champions League semi-final second leg against PSG, amounting to a 3-1 aggregate defeat.
Arsenal's players were left in tears following their Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday according to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners were beaten 2-1 on the night at the Parc does Prince, amounting to a 3-1 aggregate defeat, which will leave them without a trophy this season.
Arsenal have won just one FA Cup since Mikel Arteta took over at the club in December 2019 and must now secure second place in the Premier League's final three matches.
“Today I see how much they want it because they were in tears," said Arteta.
“This squad, two years ago, nobody believed that we could even probably qualify for the Champions League, not even think that we could finish second and compete in the league.
"Perhaps the amount of points that we had in any other year, you are champions. But the reality at the end is you need something to lose and that trophy with all the work that we do and the disappointment is we don’t have them."
Arsenal are just three points above third-placed Manchester City and six ahead of sixth-placed Nottingham Forest and travel to Liverpool on Sunday.
