Real Madrid Rely on The Power of The Bernabéu
The Real Madrid seeks to experience another magical European night against Bayern Munich to secure their spot in the Champions League final, capitalizing on the strength of the Santiago Bernabéu after a 2-2 draw in the first leg of the semifinals. This season, the team hasn't lost any of the 22 home matches, with 18 victories and four draws.
The Real Madrid's successful season is largely due to the fortress they've established in their stadium. They've achieved 18 wins, 15 of them in 17 LaLiga matches and three in the five Champions League encounters hosted there, with only two recent draws in the round of 16 against Leipzig and in the quarterfinals against Manchester City.
It's the first time in history that Real Madrid has drawn four consecutive matches in knockout rounds. After defeating Leipzig in Germany, they drew both legs of the quarterfinals against City and replicated the result in the first leg of the semifinals at the Allianz Arena.
Only once in the history of the European Cup has a team that drew five consecutive matches in the final stage gone on to become champions: PSV in the 1987-88 season. The 2-2 draw leaves Carlo Ancelotti's team one step away from the final at Wembley. Furthermore, Real Madrid has only lost one of their last ten knockout matches at home in the Champions League, a 2-3 defeat against Chelsea in the second leg of the 2021-22 quarterfinals, which didn't result in elimination.
Undefeated this season at the Santiago Bernabéu, where their last official defeat was in LaLiga on April 8, 2023, against Villarreal, Real Madrid is a goal-scoring force in the Champions League in front of their home crowd.
