According to Brazilian media reports, a tense incident occurred during a Santos training session involving Neymar and Robinho Jr. During Sunday's practice session at the Rei Pelé training ground, a physical altercation occurred that included pushing and physical grappling, and reports indicate that Neymar may have caused the young player to fall. The incident occurred during an activity for the players who did not take part in the Serie A match against Palmeiras on Saturday. According to a report by Globo Esporte, Neymar became upset after Robinho Jr. dribbled past him during that exercise. Before reacting, Neymar reportedly asked the young player to take it easy, and then, according to the report, he responded with an action that caused the player to fall. This sequence led to an argument that ended in a scuffle between the two.
Response from Santos and Neymar
As of now, Santos has not issued any official statements regarding the incident. When asked by Globo Esporte, Neymar's press team responded that they had no knowledge of the matter. The incident caused concern within the club and, according to reports, prompted Robinho Jr.'s representatives to lodge formal complaints with the club's presidency.
Despite the heated exchange, the same Globo Esporte report states that Neymar Jr. approached the 18-year-old player, the son of former Real Madrid winger Robinho, while still on the premises to apologize for his impulsive reaction. It is also noted that the relationship between the two, described as that of godfather and godson, reportedly returned to normal fairly quickly.
