“The Pharaoh” delivered his best performance since arriving in Turkish football, becoming a constant threat for the reigning champions. Here are all the details.
Mohamed Salah delivered a spectacular performance in the Turkish Süper Lig. The Egyptian forward scored a hat-trick and provided an assist in Trabzonspor’s 4-0 win over Galatasaray on Matchday 6. With his three goals, Salah moved to seven league goals and took the top spot in the scoring charts, one goal ahead of Victor Osimhen.
SALAH MAKES HIS MARK FROM THE OPENING MINUTES
The Trabzonspor forward needed just four minutes to open the scoring. Salah received the ball inside the box and calmly finished to make it 1-0, setting the tone for a memorable night.
His impact went beyond scoring. In the 39th minute, the Egyptian set up Saviolo, who finished to put Trabzonspor further ahead. Five minutes later, in the 44th minute, Salah struck again to make it 3-0 and complete his brace before halftime.
A HAT-TRICK TO COMPLETE THE ROUT
The performance was capped in the 80th minute, when Salah found the back of the net again to complete his first hat-trick in a Trabzonspor shirt. The Egyptian was substituted in the 88th minute and received a standing ovation from the crowd at Papara Park.
The result was also a major setback for Galatasaray, the reigning Turkish champions, who suffered a 4-0 defeat. For Salah, meanwhile, it was his most productive game since arriving in Turkish football, with three goals and one assist in a single match.
SEVEN GOALS AND THE LEAGUE'S SCORING LEAD
Following his three-goal performance, Mohamed Salah reached seven goals in six Süper Lig appearances, moving ahead of Victor Osimhen, who has six. Before his breakout performance against Galatasaray, Salah had already scored against Başakşehir, Amedspor and Gençlerbirliği.
The Egyptian also extended a notable streak, becoming Trabzonspor’s first foreign player since the 2000-01 season to score in each of his first three home matches. His output across those games was two goals against Başakşehir, one against Gençlerbirliği and three against Galatasaray.
A HISTORIC NIGHT FOR THE EGYPTIAN STAR
The hat-trick against Galatasaray was the sixth hat-trick of Salah’s professional career, following his previous three-goal performances with Liverpool and in the UEFA Champions League, among others. He also became the first Trabzonspor player since Anthony Nwakaeme in 2018 to directly contribute to three goals in a match against Galatasaray.
At 34 years old, Salah continues to make an impact and has quickly emerged as one of the standout attacking players in the Turkish league this season. His start with Trabzonspor now includes seven goals and one assist in the Süper Lig, highlighting his immediate influence on his new club and the competition.
