Spalletti insists Juventus do not need signings in January
Juventus are starting to find their feet under Luciano Spalletti and the Serie A side could make it four wins in a row when they host Lecce.
Luciano Spalletti insists he does not need any additions to his Juventus squad in the January transfer window, nor does he need a contract extension.
The Italian coach replaced Igor Tudor in October but only signed a deal to run until the end of the current season.
Juve have only lost once since he took the reins, a 2-1 defeat to Serie A holders Napoli, while they have won their last four games in all competitions and their last three in the league.
The Bianconeri could finish the weekend as high as second in the Serie A standings if they beat Lecce on Saturday, despite a poor start to the season.
Prior to Spalletti's pre-match press conference on Friday, Juve confirmed the return of Marco Ottolini as the club’s sporting director.
Spalletti reiterated that he will not have much of a say in their transfer dealings, with his main focus on the players already at the club, while a contract extension is also not on his radar just yet.
“I came here with clear agreements when I accepted Juventus. I don’t expect anything; I’m very happy with the players at my disposal,” said Spalletti.
“Allow me to welcome Marco Ottolini; everyone knows him, and I have met him before.
"Everyone says he’s a good person and a top professional, so much so that a club like Juventus brought him back.
“He will take care of the transfer market. It’s a market of opportunities to eventually complete the squad. It’s not a topic I intend to spark myself. I’m happy with the players I have, and for now, I don’t need anything.
“If I had needed something else to feel more secure with a longer contract, I would have addressed it from the start when I spoke with Comolli.
“I didn’t, and I’m fine in every aspect.”
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Juventus – Kenan Yildiz
With 15 goals scored in Serie A, Yildiz has equalled Alessandro Del Piero in sixth place among Juventus' top scorers before turning 21 years old.
The Turkiye forward (six goals, four assists) is the only player born from 2005 onwards to have at least 10 goal involvements in Serie A this season, while he is one of only two, along with Lamine Yamal (2007), when considering Europe's top five European leagues.
Lecce – Ylber Ramadani
Ramadani has played the most minutes (1,400) of any midfielder yet to be involved in a goal in Serie A this season.
Among Lecce players, Ramadani ranks first for passes attempted (684), passes completed (552), ball recoveries (67, excluding goalkeepers) and interceptions (24) in 2025-26.
MATCH PREDICTION – JUVENTUS WIN
Juve have lost just one of their 19 home Serie A matches against Lecce (W14 D4), a 4-3 defeat on April 25, 2004, when Marcello Lippi was in charge of the Bianconeri and Delio Rossi was in the dugout for Lecce.
Juve have also scored at least one goal in each of their last 10 Serie A matches against Lecce, and they could do net in 11 in a row against them for the first time.
Lecce, meanwhile, have failed to score in six of their 10 Serie A matches since mid-October; in this period, no other team has failed to score in more top-flight matches (Pisa also with six).
And Juve generally make a good start to a new year.
They have not lost their first Serie A game of a calendar year since 2013, which is also the last time they conceded more than one goal in such a match.
Since then, the Bianconeri have recorded nine wins and three draws in these matches, keeping seven clean sheets.
