Sporting CP produced an impressive comeback to defeat Nottingham Forest 4-1 on Friday in an international preseason friendly at Estádio Algarve, continuing its preparations for the 2026-27 campaign.
The English side made the perfect start when Igor Jesus found the back of the net in the opening minute, giving Nottingham Forest an early lead before Sporting had settled into the match.
The Portuguese champions responded quickly, leveling the score in the 14th minute through Gonçalo Inácio, who capitalized on a set-piece opportunity to restore parity before halftime.
Sporting dominated after the break and completed the comeback in style. Issa Doumbia scored the go-ahead goal in the 61st minute, before young forward Rafael Nel stole the spotlight with a second-half brace, including the final goal in the 83rd minute, to complete a convincing 4-1 victory.
The result capped another encouraging preseason performance for Sporting, while Nottingham Forest concluded a busy day after earlier defeating Portimonense 2-1 in a closed-door friendly before facing the Portuguese side.
