Benfica completed a crucial comeback against Gil Vicente, winning 3-1 on Matchday 6 of the Portuguese Primeira Liga. The visitors struck first, but the Eagles responded in the second half to claim all three points.
PAVLIDIS CHANGES THE GAME
Héctor Hernández put Gil Vicente ahead in the seventh minute, taking advantage of a through ball to make it 1-0.
Benfica's response came in the 29th minute, when Vangelis Pavlidis found space inside the box and produced a delicate chip to level the score at 1-1.
The game remained tied for much of the match until Pavlidis stepped up again late on. The Greek striker converted a penalty in the 88th minute to complete his brace and put Benfica ahead 2-1.
PRESTIANNI SEALS THE COMEBACK IN STOPPAGE TIME
With Gil Vicente pushing for an equalizer, Gianluca Prestianni took advantage of the space and produced an excellent individual play to score in the 90+6th minute, sealing Benfica's 3-1 comeback victory.
