'Winner' O'Neill deserves a statue after 'greatest league win of all time', says Celtic's Johnston
Celtic overcame Hearts 3-1 on Saturday to clinch the Scottish Premiership title in extraordinary fashion on the final day.
Martin O'Neill deserves a statue for what Celtic's Alistair Johnston sees as "the greatest league win of all time".
Celtic clinched their fifth straight Scottish Premiership title on Saturday as they came from behind to beat Hearts 3-1.
Late goals from Daizen Maeda and Callum Osmand completed the comeback, sparking wild scenes of celebration at Celtic Park.
Celtic became Scottish champions for the 56th time, overtaking Rangers (55) for the most titles of any side.
Since the start of October, Hearts had spent 226 days at the top of the pile, but Celtic pipped them to the post as O'Neill's own comeback story was complete.
The 74-year-old had an interim spell in charge earlier in the season, after Brendan Rodgers' departure, before he took over again following Wilfried Nancy's short tenure.
"It's the greatest league win - it must be of all time," defender Johnston told Sky Sports.
"Never count us out. We just felt like we were going to find a way. Unbelievable.
"[Martin O'Neill] is a winner. Build him a statue, it's as simple as that. He just finds a way to win."
An emotional Callum McGregor said: "For the first time ever, I'm speechless. You see what it means to everyone. What a season. Everyone wrote us off.
"We knew we'd get a chance. We keep going and going. What a special group of people. Magical."
