What Tottenham Need to Do to Avoid Relegation
Tottenham head into the final Premier League matchday living a nightmare scenario. Spurs sit 17th in the table and are on the verge of relegation, something that seemed impossible just a few years ago for one of England’s biggest clubs. After losing to Chelsea, the margin for error disappeared, and everything will now be decided in a dramatic clash against Everton.
The Scenario That Keeps Spurs Safe
The situation is clear: Roberto De Zerbi’s side controls its own destiny in the Premier League. A draw or a victory will be enough to secure survival, but a defeat could send them directly to the Championship if West Ham defeat Leeds United.
A draw would virtually guarantee safety because of goal difference. Tottenham hold a 13-goal advantage over West Ham, something extremely difficult to overturn in a single matchday. However, losing at home would open the door to one of the biggest sporting tragedies in the club’s recent history. It would mark their first relegation since the 1976/77 season.
A Crisis That Has Taken Over North London
The main issue for Spurs is that winning has become incredibly difficult. They have managed just two victories in their last 20 matches and have not won at home since December 6, 2025. The pressure in London will be enormous, especially considering how many points the team dropped throughout the campaign.
Still, there are reasons to believe. Their opponent will be Everton, a side with no European ambitions and little left to fight for in the standings. In addition, recent history heavily favors Tottenham. In their last 10 home matches against the Toffees, Spurs have won seven, drawn two, and lost only once.

History Favors Tottenham
Even in the overall recent head-to-head record, Tottenham clearly dominate Everton, suffering just one defeat in the last 10 meetings between the two clubs. Earlier this season, Spurs already beat them 0-3 away from home with a dominant performance.
The arrival of Roberto De Zerbi has also changed the mood around the squad. Although results have not yet become consistent, Tottenham have shown improvement in their style of play and competed until the very end against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The equation is simple: win or draw to survive. But if they lose and West Ham win, one of England’s historic giants will fall into the Championship. Total drama awaits on the final day of the Premier League season.
