Raúl Jiménez closing in on record to surpass Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah
Raúl Jiménez, striker for Fulham FC, has established himself as a penalty specialist, and his efficiency is putting him close to historic marks in the Premier League.
Jiménez chasing Kane and Salah records
Jiménez scored from the spot in Fulham’s 3-1 win over Burnley FC on matchday 31.
With that goal, he has now converted 14 consecutive penalties, putting him within reach of Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane, who both reached 15 consecutive successful penalties.
According to OPTA, Jiménez is just one penalty away from matching those records, placing him firmly in contention for a historic milestone.
The all-time record belongs to Matt Le Tissier, who scored 23 consecutive penalties in April 2000.
Jiménez’s emotional celebration
The Mexican forward celebrated by raising his hands to the sky in tribute to his father, who passed away just over a week ago.
After the goal, Jiménez was congratulated by teammates and staff, and was visibly emotional, unable to hold back tears.
