The dream that vanished

Ismaila Sarr was one step away from wearing the Liverpool jersey at the close of the transfer market, but he ultimately stayed at Crystal Palace. His coach Pierre Sage acknowledged that the forward needs time to overcome the frustration: "He needs to digest it, because for many players, playing for a club like Liverpool is a dream. He had a good opportunity, but in the end, it didn't work out." Last season, Sarr was the Palace's top scorer with 21 goals and lifted the Community Shield and the Conference League. Today, however, he is carrying a groin injury that kept him out of the matches against Everton and Manchester City, and will also sideline him against Fulham.

The transfer did not materialize because Liverpool decided to retain Cody Gakpo, rejecting an offer from Manchester City according to the English press.
