Guardiola Drops Unexpected Bombshell!
Despite growing speculation about his future, Pep Guardiola strongly hinted that he will remain at Manchester City next season, surprising many ahead of the FA Cup final.
The decade that Pep Guardiola has spent on the bench of Manchester City has brought enormous pressure and exhaustion — something that would affect any manager. That is why, after the club’s least successful season since the Catalan coach arrived in 2016, many believed this could be his final campaign at the Etihad Stadium, despite still having one year left on his contract.
However, Guardiola himself appeared to make it clear that he intends to remain in Manchester next season.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final against Chelsea FC, Guardiola described his decade at City as “bloody fun” and suggested that the upcoming trip to Wembley may not be his last with the club.
“You don’t have to wait for me to leave. You know it’s been fun. It’s been bloody fun,” Guardiola said. “Nineteen titles, fighting for number 20 in 10 years — that’s not bad at all, honestly.”
The comments immediately fueled speculation that the former FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach plans to fulfill the remainder of his contract and continue leading City into the 2026 season.
When asked whether the visit to Wembley would feel emotional because it could potentially be his last if he leaves next month, Guardiola quickly dismissed the idea.
“No way. No way. I still have one year left on my contract. Maybe I’ll go there 24 more times,” he joked.
Guardiola also reflected on his deep connection with Wembley Stadium, recalling both his playing and managerial triumphs there.
“Wembley has always been a special place. First with Barcelona in 1992, winning the European Cup as a player, and then against Manchester United with Barcelona in 2011, winning the Champions League as a coach,” he said. “Since then, I’ve been here many times for semifinals and finals. It’s great to come back to Wembley.”
