End of the Drama: Alejandro Garnacho Says Goodbye to Manchester United and Will Now Play for Chelsea
From United prodigy to new ‘Blue’ signing… that’s how quickly everything changed. What once seemed like a long-term story at Old Trafford ended in a definitive break, and now Alejandro Garnacho is just one step away from wearing the Chelsea shirt.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have already reached a full agreement with Alejandro Garnacho on personal terms. Now, negotiations with Manchester United must be finalized to seal the deal, although the London club knows they will have to meet the £50 million valuation demanded by the Old Trafford board, according to The Telegraph.
The ‘Blues’ interest comes alongside their push to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. The Dutchman is eager to make the leap to the Premier League after his team missed out entirely on European competitions.
The break with Manchester United
The rift between Garnacho and Manchester United began in the Europa League final against Tottenham. The Argentine felt sidelined by his manager, Ruben Amorim, and after the defeat, he made controversial remarks that angered the Portuguese coach. From that moment, the relationship was over.
He didn’t travel to the Asian tour, trained separately, and understood he no longer had a place in the squad. What began as a season of consolidation turned into an early farewell for one of Old Trafford’s brightest young talents.
Only thinking about Stamford Bridge
According to Romano, Chelsea is the only club Garnacho has in mind for his next step. The London side have already signed Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund and are now targeting Garnacho and Simons to strengthen an area that could see departures, such as Carney Chukwuemeka.
In a matter of weeks, Garnacho could go from feeling sidelined at Old Trafford to becoming one of Chelsea’s most high-profile signings of the summer transfer window.
