Chelsea Shatters Club Transfer Record to Sign Morgan Rogers From Aston Villa
Chelsea has completed the signing of England international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa in a record-breaking deal that makes him the most expensive player in the club's history.
Chelsea Makes a Statement With Morgan Rogers Signing
Chelsea has officially completed the signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa in one of the biggest transfers of the summer. The Blues reportedly paid €137 million to secure the England international, setting a new club transfer record while making Rogers the most expensive British player in football history.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has signed a contract through June 2032, with an option to extend for an additional season, becoming another marquee addition to Xabi Alonso's squad ahead of the new campaign.
Xabi Alonso Played a Key Role
After completing the move, Rogers admitted that conversations with Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso were instrumental in convincing him to join the project at Stamford Bridge.
"I'm really excited about the project, the new coach, the players we have and the direction the club is heading," Rogers said in his first interview as a Chelsea player.
The England international also praised Alonso's football philosophy, explaining that the Spaniard's vision matches his own style of play and gives him the freedom to express himself on the pitch.

Chelsea Continues an Ambitious Summer
Rogers arrives after representing England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and becomes Chelsea's third major signing of the transfer window.
The Blues had already strengthened Alonso's squad by bringing in Italian full-back Marco Palestra from Atalanta and Portuguese winger Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP.
With Rogers now added to the mix, Chelsea continues to demonstrate its ambition as it looks to challenge for major honors under its new manager.
