(Video): Lech Poznań Beat Jagiellonia and Move Top of the Table

  • Lech Poznań secured a dramatic victory over Jagiellonia in a match that appeared destined to end in a draw but was ultimately decided in the closing stages thanks to a VAR intervention.

The visitors were slightly more dangerous during the first half. Jagiellonia looked to threaten from distance, with Sergio Lozano among the players who tried their luck, although they were unable to break the deadlock. Allahyar Sayyadmanesh also attempted shots from outside the box, but his efforts failed to hit the target.

Lech Poznań found it much more difficult to play their way out of their own half. The home side mainly tried to create danger through crosses from the flanks, but for much of the opening period, they were unable to find anyone to finish those opportunities inside the box.

Two Goals Before Halftime

Just when it appeared the game would remain scoreless until halftime, Pablo Rodríguez stepped up.

In the 42nd minute, Joel Pereira delivered an excellent cross into the box, and Rodríguez connected with a powerful header to make it 1-0.

However, Jagiellonia responded immediately.

In the 45+3 minute, Yuki Kobayashi unleashed a spectacular long-range strike that flew into the top corner. It was an absolute stunner that sent the teams into halftime tied at 1-1.

VAR Decides the Match

The second half remained evenly contested, with both teams searching for the goal that could secure all three points.

The decisive moment arrived in the 86th minute.

Following a corner kick, Robert Gumny managed to send the ball into the back of the net, but a foul on the Jagiellonia goalkeeper was initially called.

The VAR asked the referee to review the play and, after another look, it was determined that there had been no foul. The goal was awarded, and Lech Poznań found the winner in the closing stages.

With the victory, Lech Poznań move to the top of the Ekstraklasa, one point ahead of Legia, who still have to play their match this weekend.
