Where Can I Watch: Nice vs. Marseille on beIN SPORTS
Marseille Has the Chance to Be Ligue 1 Leaders With a Rivalry Match Win at Nice
Ligue 1 is back with a bang on beIN SPORTS after the international break with a fantastic French grudge match. Second-place Marseille has the chance to move to the top of the Ligue 1 standings on Friday. The catch is that to do so, Marseille will need to defeat Mediterranean rivals Nice on their own turf.
Although coach Roberto De Zerbi still has to ride the daily rollercoaster of emotions and drama at Marseille, the team’s Ligue 1 form has been solid. Coming into the second half of November, Marseille is still forcing PSG into late, late wins to stay at the top of the table. Marseille’s 25-point tally after 12 Ligue 1 games is the second-best performance in the past 10 years, and the team are the league’s top scorers with 28 goals. Eight of those have been provided by the club's prolific English striker, Mason Greenwood.
Marseille could be catching Nice at a good time on Friday, as the neighbors are having a run of bad form with back-to-back defeats in Ligue 1 against PSG and Metz and have no points at all in the team’s UEFA Europa League group. The most recent defeat against Freiburg produced quite the ticking off from the team’s irate coach, Franck Haise — “Outwardly, I defend my players, but at some point, you have to say things.”
Those same players can respond on Friday with a restorative victory over their rivals from Marseille.
