PSG Defeat Lens Thanks to Brilliant Barcola
Paris Saint-Germain secured their fourth consecutive victory in Ligue 1 with a 2-0 win over Lens, powered by a stunning brace from Bradley Barcola that keeps Luis Enrique Martínez’s side at the top of the table.
The Parisian club continues its perfect start to the season, sitting two points clear of second-placed Lille after another convincing performance.
Everything is clicking for PSG, and this time it was Barcola who stole the spotlight. Two strikes from outside the box sealed the match, as Luis Enrique rotated his squad with one eye on the Champions League opener against Atalanta this Wednesday.
The Spanish coach rested several key players, with Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves, and Fabián Ruiz beginning on the bench after starting in the previous 6-3 win over Toulouse. Instead, Lucas Hernández, Warren Zaïre-Emery, and Kang-in Lee were brought in, while injured Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé were replaced by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Gonçalo Ramos. The depth of PSG’s squad ensured the changes had no negative impact.
However, Kvaratskhelia’s return was short-lived. The Georgian winger had to be substituted after just half an hour due to a calf injury in his left leg, with Ibrahim Mbaye coming on in his place. At that point, PSG were already 1-0 up.
Lens, meanwhile, offered little resistance. Their cautious setup saw them sit deep and wait for counterattacks that never truly materialized. Their only real chance came early, when Florian Thauvin’s indirect free kick was blocked by Lucas Chevalier. Just minutes later, Barcola broke the deadlock.
Receiving a pass from Vitinha on the edge of the box, the PSG forward controlled and unleashed a curling right-footed shot into the top corner — a strike of true quality.
After halftime, Barcola struck again. Another assist from Vitinha, another strike from distance — this time a low drive tucked inside the right post past Robin Risser. It was his second blow, and it proved enough.
PSG saw out the rest of the match comfortably, cementing their place as Ligue 1’s undisputed leaders, marching to the rhythm of Bradley Barcola.
