Real Madrid and Raúl Asencio Breathe: Good News Arrives in His Legal Case
Raúl Asencio is not going through his best moment at Real Madrid, but off the pitch he has received a much-needed breath of relief.
A Complicated Summer on the Pitch
Raúl Asencio’s name has lost ground at Real Madrid after a summer to forget. His performances at the Club World Cup fell short of expectations, leaving doubts in the coaching staff. Now, with key defenders like David Alaba, Antonio Rüdiger, and even Éder Militão back from injury, the academy product faces uncertainty over his chances of getting minutes this season.
At the Santiago Bernabéu the demands are always high, and Asencio knows competition is fierce. It’s a difficult sporting context, but at least some positive news has arrived away from the pitch.
Progress in His Legal Case
Amid this difficult period, Asencio has received some relief in his ongoing legal case. According to COPE, one of the two victims —the 18-year-old— has withdrawn her accusation and accepted the player’s public apologies. “I freely and voluntarily accept the apology, and I express my forgiveness. I do not want him to be punished criminally,” the statement read.
The defender also submitted a letter recognizing his mistakes and offering an “express and unconditional” apology. However, the case is not over, as the other victim, a 16-year-old minor, has kept her accusation active.
Between the Pitch and the Courts
The adult victim has exonerated Asencio, but the process continues against the other three players under investigation: Andrés García, Ferrán Ruiz, and Juan Rodríguez. Meanwhile, Asencio must fight on two fronts: regaining his place at Real Madrid and facing a legal process still unresolved. A contrast that sums up the complex reality the young defender is living through in a summer he will hardly forget.
