Pedri Fires a Shot at Barcelona After 4-1 Defeat to Sevilla
FC Barcelona endured one of their toughest nights of the season after suffering a 4-1 loss to Sevilla at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, and Pedri didn’t hold back in his post-match comments. The Spanish midfielder called for self-criticism within the squad and highlighted a lack of intensity as the team’s biggest issue.
What Did Pedri Say After the Defeat?
“The team needs to be self-critical. We lacked intensity and quality on the ball,” said the visibly frustrated Canarian midfielder after the match. “In the first half, we didn’t know how to attack or defend properly. After the break, we have to fix many things if we want to start winning again.”
Pedri admitted that Barcelona tried to make adjustments during halftime but never found their rhythm:
“We weren’t ourselves at any point in the match. Individual and collective mistakes ended up costing us.”
Criticism of the Team’s Attitude and Intensity
The midfielder refused to blame Robert Lewandowski’s missed penalty, which could have made it 2-2, and instead pointed to the team’s overall performance:
“Moments like that can change a match, but penalties can be missed. The real issue was our lack of intensity. They won every duel, our defensive line was disorganized, and we didn’t know how to respond to their pressing.”

Frustration With Refereeing Decisions
Pedri also voiced his displeasure with some of the referee’s calls:
“I saw the foul on Koundé right next to me, and the referee told me it wasn’t enough. Then a similar one happens for them, and he says I was right. If VAR didn’t intervene, it’s because they didn’t see it as a foul,” he explained.
