OFFICIAL: Hansi Flick Extends Barcelona Contract Until 2028
The German manager will remain in charge of the Blaugrana project after restoring the team’s competitiveness and helping develop a new generation led by stars such as Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and Raphinha.
Barcelona officially confirmed the contract extension of Hansi Flick through June 2028, continuing a project that has already returned the club to the top level of European football in just two seasons.
The Catalan club announced that the German coach signed a new deal that includes an additional season and an option to extend the agreement until 2029.
The signing ceremony took place at the club’s offices at Spotify Camp Nou during a private event attended by important members of the board, including Joan Laporta, Rafael Yuste, and sporting director Deco.
For several months, Flick had already made clear his desire to remain at the club, especially after the positive impact he managed to create both in results and team performance.
Flick Completely Changed Barcelona
The arrival of Hansi Flick to Barcelona in the summer of 2024 marked the beginning of an important rebuild following the departure of Xavi Hernández and a period filled with inconsistency.
However, the German manager quickly transformed the team. In his first season, he won the domestic treble and came close to reaching the Champions League final. Now, during his second campaign, he has already added another LaLiga title and the Spanish Super Cup.
Overall, Flick has won five trophies out of a possible eight since taking charge of the Blaugrana side.
Beyond the silverware, one of the most praised aspects of his work has been the football identity he established. The team regained an attacking, dynamic, and aggressive style that once again connected with the fans.
La Masia and Young Stars Became Key Pieces
Another major success for Hansi Flick has been maximizing the talent developed through La Masia, especially during a period where financial limitations reduced the club’s ability to make major signings.
The German coach successfully balanced experience and youth, getting strong performances from established players like Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha, while accelerating the development of young stars such as Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Fermín López, and Pau Cubarsí.
Club executives believe Flick has not only restored competitiveness to the squad but also built a solid foundation for the future.
Before signing the new contract, Ronald Araujo, Joan Laporta, Rafael Yuste, and Flick himself placed this season’s trophies — the Spanish Super Cup and LaLiga title — inside the club museum.
