Nico Paz Shines in Italy as Real Madrid Plans His Return
Argentine talent Nico Paz continues to make waves in Italian football. The young forward from Como 1907, coached by Cesc Fàbregas, has been named the “Rising Star” of Serie A for the second consecutive month — a recognition that confirms his outstanding performances at the start of the season.
In September, Paz played a decisive role for his team, recording two goals and two assists, leading the Lombardy side’s attack and becoming an indispensable part of Fàbregas’ tactical setup. “He has outshined young talents like Yildiz and Soulé. He’s a gem of modern football, an example of class and consistency,” said Luigi De Siervo, Serie A’s CEO, during the award announcement.
His influence and maturity on the pitch have reignited interest from Real Madrid, the club that owns his rights and is already considering bringing him back in the summer of 2026.
Real Madrid keeping tabs on its talents abroad
Nico Paz’s rise isn’t the only reason for excitement in the Spanish capital. At the Santiago Bernabéu, executives are also closely monitoring the progress of Chema Andrés, a 20-year-old midfielder currently playing for Stuttgart in Germany, who could return alongside the Argentine, according to Diario AS.
Real Madrid’s plan is to bring back both players for a combined fee of under €22 million, a bargain considering they both came through the Valdebebas academy. In Chema Andrés’ case, his performances in the Bundesliga have been impressive — eight appearances, one goal, and steady development that positions him as a potential successor to Aurélien Tchouaméni in the medium term.
The Spanish midfielder has also expressed admiration for Xabi Alonso, Madrid’s current coach:
“He’s my idol for what he represents and the legacy he left in Spanish football. I hope one day I can play under his management,” he told Onda Cero.
The future of Madrid: youth, talent, and homegrown roots
Real Madrid is preparing for a generational transition in midfield following the departures of Luka Modrić, Toni Kroos, and Casemiro, and both Nico Paz and Chema Andrés fit perfectly into that vision for the future.
The club also holds buy-back options for Paz until 2027 for around €11 million, making his return almost certain. As for Chema, his buy-back clause is set at €10 million, a bargain for a player who already made his first-team debut under Carlo Ancelotti.
All signs point to the summer of 2026 marking the return of two academy graduates destined to lead Real Madrid’s new era: Nico Paz, the Argentine gem shining in Italy, and Chema Andrés, the Spanish midfielder poised to become Xabi Alonso’s natural heir.
