Kylian Mbappé Fires Back at Rapper Orelsan’s Criticism and Sparks Controversy
A song sparked the fire between Kylian Mbappé and rapper Orelsan. What began as a musical jab turned into an unexpected clash between French football and rap.
A Rap Song That Lit the Fuse
Kylian Mbappé’s adventure as owner of Stade Malherbe Caen is going through one of its toughest moments. Since his purchase of the club in the summer of 2024, results have fallen short of expectations. Following relegation to France’s third division, Caen is now battling serious financial trouble that has already led to staff layoffs.
Amid this crisis, rapper Orelsan, one of the club’s most famous supporters, took aim at the French national team captain in his new track La Petite Voix. In it, he raps: “You’re going to sink your city like the Mbappés,” a lyric that didn’t go unnoticed by the Real Madrid star.
Mbappé’s Response Ignites Social Media
True to his direct style, Mbappé wasted no time in replying. On his X (Twitter) account, he fired back with a dose of irony:
“You’re invited to ‘save’ the city you love so much, Orelsan. P.S.: The guy begged us to let him in for 1% without paying because he’s broke—but wanted to look like Normandy’s golden boy.”
The post immediately went viral, sparking thousands of reactions and debates among fans stunned by the public clash between two of France’s biggest figures. For some, Mbappé crossed the line; for others, he was simply defending his project against an unfair attack.

A Football Project Under Pressure
When Mbappé bought Caen, he became the youngest majority shareholder in French football history, a move many hailed as a sign of loyalty to his roots. But the management team he appointed has faced mounting criticism, and the club—once a familiar name in Ligue 1—now sits tenth in the National, France’s third tier.
The dream of bringing Caen back to the top division remains alive, but this heated exchange with Orelsan has made one thing clear: Mbappé’s off-field project is facing its most turbulent chapter yet.
