How Long Will Pedri Be Out and Which Matches Will He Miss for Barcelona?
Another blow for Barcelona. Just as he was regaining rhythm, Pedri is forced to stop again, leaving Hansi Flick without a key piece at a crucial point in the season.
Another physical setback for Pedri
Misfortune strikes FC Barcelona once again — and once again, Pedri is at the center of it. The Canary Islands midfielder will be out for one month after suffering a muscle injury to the biceps femoris of his right leg during the Champions League match against Slavia Prague.
Upon returning, the player underwent medical tests at the Ciutat Esportiva, where the club confirmed both the diagnosis and the estimated recovery time.
The injury comes at a particularly delicate moment, just as Pedri had begun to string together starts and rediscover his form after a season disrupted by fitness issues.
A season disrupted by injuries
This is already Pedri’s third muscle injury of the current campaign. He had previously missed five matches — four due to a muscle tear and one because of calf discomfort.
This time, however, the layoff will be longer and will rule him out during one of the most demanding stretches of the calendar.
The midfielder is set to miss at least seven matches across LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Champions League, with the total potentially rising to nine depending on Barcelona’s progress in European and domestic cup competitions.
Flick loses a midfield pillar
Hansi Flick will be without one of his most influential midfielders for key fixtures against Oviedo, Copenhagen, Elche, Albacete, Mallorca, Girona, and Levante.
The timing is especially unfortunate, with the first leg of the Copa del Rey tie scheduled for February 10, 11, or 12, and the possibility of a Champions League playoff looming if Barcelona fail to finish inside the Top 8.
Pedri had started four of Barcelona’s last five official matches after returning from another muscle issue, and his absence once again leaves a difficult void to fill in midfield.
A worrying absence… once again
There is no doubt about Pedri’s talent. His physical continuity, however, remains a concern. Barcelona lose creativity, control, and composure at a critical stage of the season, while the midfielder begins yet another recovery process — hoping this time to return without setbacks.
A significant absence. And a familiar concern.
