Galatasaray Renew Interest in Pape Gueye as Villarreal Stand Firm
Interest from Turkey has resurfaced, but Villarreal remain firm as the transfer window enters its decisive final days.
Galatasaray Interest Back on the Table
Talks surrounding Galatasaray’s interest in Pape Gueye have resurfaced in recent hours. Turkish media report that the Istanbul club could explore a potential move for the Villarreal midfielder before the window closes.
However, sources at the Spanish club insist that no formal approach has been made at this stage.
Villarreal Reluctant to Open Talks
Even if an offer were to arrive, Villarreal are not expected to entertain negotiations easily. The club is under no financial pressure to sell and considers Gueye one of the pillars of the current project.
Any decision would ultimately rest with the club’s hierarchy, but the timing of the market makes a deal increasingly unlikely.
Champions League Push a Key Factor
The Yellow Submarine’s priority remains clear: securing a place in next season’s Champions League. Letting go of a key midfielder at this stage would only complicate that objective.
For that reason, the club’s stance is firm, and any movement from Galatasaray would likely face significant resistance.
Release Clause Sets the Benchmark
Should the Turkish side press ahead, Villarreal are expected to point directly to Gueye’s release clause. That figure stood at €45 million a week ago but has since risen to €55 million as the market enters its final stretch.
The increase strengthens Villarreal’s position, whether to deter interest altogether or to negotiate from a position of maximum leverage.
