Flick Wants Rodri at Barcelona
The future of Rodri Hernández continues to dominate the transfer headlines, and FC Barcelona appears determined to explore every possibility of bringing the Spanish midfielder to Camp Nou. Although just a few days ago the club's position suggested it would not make a major investment in another central midfielder, the situation appears to have changed in recent hours.
According to SPORT, Hansi Flick recently held a phone conversation with the Spain international to personally explain Barcelona's sporting project and gauge his interest in a potential move to the Catalan club.
The call represents an important step in what remains a highly complicated operation, but one that club executives reportedly view as a market opportunity if the financial conditions become favorable.
From "Not a Priority" to Genuine Interest
The development is particularly striking because just one day earlier, MARCA reported that Barcelona's top priority remained strengthening the attack and that the club had no plans to invest around €70 million in a midfielder, even after Frenkie de Jong's injury.
However, SPORT now reports that the situation has evolved.
According to the Catalan newspaper, sporting director Deco remains in constant contact with Rodri's representatives and has already made initial inquiries with members of Manchester City regarding the feasibility of a transfer.
The club has no intention of entering an unlimited bidding war but instead wants to determine whether there is a financially realistic path toward completing a deal that seemed virtually impossible just weeks ago.
The Dressing Room Is Also Playing a Role
Barcelona's efforts have not been limited to the boardroom.
According to SPORT, players such as Lamine Yamal have also spoken with Rodri during Spain National Team camps, using their time together to describe the atmosphere inside the squad and the excitement surrounding Hansi Flick's project.
The goal has been to show the midfielder what the club is building and convince him that he could become one of the cornerstones of Barcelona's new era.

Why Rodri Fits Flick's System
From a tactical perspective, the interest makes perfect sense.
Rodri is widely regarded as one of the world's best holding midfielders thanks to his ability to control the tempo of matches, recover possession, and build attacks from deep. His tactical intelligence and leadership make him the type of player capable of transforming an entire team's structure.
In Hansi Flick's system, where high pressing and ball possession are fundamental principles, the Spain World Cup winner would provide defensive balance while allowing the team's more creative players greater freedom in the attacking phase.
Even so, the operation remains extremely difficult. Beyond the transfer fee, Barcelona still has other priorities in the market, particularly signing a new forward.
According to SPORT, the club's next step will be determining the player's willingness to join before deciding how far it is prepared to go financially. For now, Barcelona's growing interest has reshaped a transfer race that until recently appeared to be leaning heavily toward Real Madrid, reopening one of the biggest stories of the European summer transfer window.
