Connor Gallagher Travels to England, Atlético Seeks a New Midfielder
Connor Gallagher travels to England for medical tests. A new midfielder is on Atlético Madrid's list of acquisitions for the winter transfer window.
Gallagher travels to England
The Surrey-born midfielder returns to the British Isles instead of playing in the Copa del Rey round of 16 match against Deportivo Coruña. Gallagher is expected to undergo medical tests with Tottenham Hotspur after the club won the bidding war for the English midfielder against Aston Villa.
Tottenham is strengthening its midfield with an inconsistent player from Atlético Madrid, who has not had a place in Diego Simeone's team, but has been called up to his country's national team, England, on several occasions.
Atletico and Gallagher
As he was unable to become a regular starter for the Rojiblancos, the sale of Gallagher would mean the recovery of the amortization value of the English midfielder. He did not have a string of good performances to displace other midfielders from the starting lineup.
With his possible arrival at Tottenham, Gallagher would have the opportunity to get more minutes and therefore more experience as a starting midfielder in Thomas Frank's team. Considering the Spurs' strong interest in winning the auction against Aston Villa for Gallagher, the role the Englishman could play would allow him to get more playing time.

A replacement is already on the list
To fill the void left by Gallagher's departure and role at Atlético, the club and coach Simeone have begun the search for a replacement capable of improving performance in that position. Signing a complete and flexible midfielder would improve their chances in the tournaments in which Atlético Madrid continues to compete.
