Cesc Confirms Talks With Real Madrid Over Nico Paz’s Future
Cesc Fàbregas admitted that Como and Real Madrid are already discussing the future of the rising Spanish-Argentine midfielder.
Cesc Fàbregas confirmed that Como 1907 and Real Madrid CF have started discussions regarding the future of Nico Paz after the midfielder’s breakout season in Italy.
Speaking to the media, Fàbregas explained that conversations are still in the early stages but acknowledged that both clubs are already working behind the scenes.
Nico Paz, who came through Real Madrid’s academy, joined Como in 2024 and quickly became one of the brightest young stars in the Serie A.
The 21-year-old midfielder produced outstanding numbers during the 2025-26 campaign, scoring 13 goals and providing 8 assists in 40 official appearances while helping Como secure a historic qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
Real Madrid still controls several important aspects of the player’s future after inserting a buy-back clause worth €9 million, retaining 50% of his economic rights, and keeping approval rights over any third-party offers.
The Spanish giants reportedly have until June 1 to activate the buy-back option, making Nico Paz one of the most closely watched transfer situations of the summer.
Fàbregas also emphasized that the player feels very connected to Como’s project, though he admitted the club hopes to resolve the situation soon in order to properly prepare for next season.
