Barcelona Hit Another Roadblock With City Over Rodri
FC Barcelona have once again received the same answer from Manchester City: no. The English club have reportedly rejected a third Blaugrana offer for Rodri Hernández, leaving negotiations that appeared to be approaching a decisive stage in a complicated position once again.
According to RMC Sport, City remain firm in their stance and are unwilling to part ways with the Spanish midfielder for anything below €80 million.
Barça have already made several attempts to close the gap between the two clubs, but so far none of their proposals have been enough to convince the English side.
City Refuse to Lower Rodri’s Price
Manchester City’s position has barely changed since negotiations began.
Although the English club are reportedly willing to listen to offers and are aware of Rodri’s desire for a change, that does not mean they will make his departure easy. Their valuation remains around €80 million.
Barcelona started with an offer close to €50 million before significantly increasing their bid. After receiving two rejections, the sporting department returned with a third proposal, but the answer was once again negative.
The pressure now shifts back to the Blaugrana.
Rodri Remains Barça’s Biggest Ally
As we have reported over the past few days, one of the main factors keeping the operation alive is Rodri’s own preference.
The Spanish international reportedly sees Barcelona as his preferred destination if he ultimately leaves Manchester, a position that works in favor of Joan Laporta and Deco during negotiations.
However, the player’s desire does not appear to be enough to change City’s financial demands.
The English club had initially considered extending the midfielder’s contract, but would now reportedly be willing to accept his departure as long as they receive an offer they consider appropriate.
Barcelona Have a Decision to Make
After three attempts, Barça have reached an important point in the negotiations.
They can make an additional financial effort and move closer to the €80 million demanded by Manchester City, or remain within the financial limits they had previously established for the operation.
And Rodri is not the only major target proving difficult to sign.
Barcelona also remain interested in Julián Álvarez, but convincing Atlético Madrid will not be easy either.
For now, the third push for Rodri has also failed.
Manchester City remain in control of the negotiations, and their message appears quite clear: if Barcelona really want to sign Rodri Hernández, they will have to move even closer to City’s asking price.
