Barcelona Concerned Over Lamine Yamal: Club Consults Groin Injury Specialist
FC Barcelona isn’t taking any risks with its young star. A Belgian specialist in groin injuries examined Lamine Yamal’s condition and delivered a reassuring verdict.
Barcelona Seeks an International Expert’s Opinion
At just 18 years old, Lamine Yamal is considered Barcelona’s most valuable player, and the club wants to monitor every detail of his physical condition. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan side decided to contact a Belgian specialist in groin injuries, known for having treated more than 3,000 elite athletes across football and basketball.
The doctor was brought in to provide a second opinion on the forward’s injury, with Dr. Ricard Pruna, the club’s head of medical services, acting as the main point of contact and overseeing Yamal’s recovery. Barcelona’s objective was to confirm that the treatment plan in place was correct and that there was no risk of relapse.
A Positive Diagnosis
The specialist’s conclusions were very encouraging. According to his report, Lamine Yamal is in good physical condition, and the rehabilitation protocol applied by the club’s medical staff — including both physical preparation and physiotherapy — is appropriate. The expert agreed that the player’s progress has been satisfactory and emphasized that the treatment began early, a key factor in avoiding further complications.
The doctor noted that groin injuries treated in their initial phase tend to have a favorable prognosis, provided that the athlete remains disciplined and consistent in recovery. So far, Yamal has shown both qualities.
Flick’s Confidence and the Coaching Staff’s Support
Head coach Hansi Flick has also expressed confidence in Yamal’s recovery. Ahead of the match against Celta de Vigo, the German manager stated:
“Lamine has changed his discipline; he works a lot both on and off the pitch, and that’s essential for this type of injury.”
The club insists there’s no cause for concern, though they continue to monitor his progress closely. Lamine Yamal is entering a crucial stage of his physical development, and Barcelona wants his recovery to be exemplary. So far, every sign suggests the Rocafonda prodigy is on the right path.
