Arbeloa committed to Real Madrid 'until the last second'
Jose Mourinho seems set to take charge of Real Madrid, but Alvaro Arbeloa remains fully committed to the club.
Alvaro Arbeloa will be committed "until the last second" as he aims to close out Real Madrid's season on a high note.
Arbeloa looks set to be replaced as Madrid coach, with Jose Mourinho nearing a sensational return to Los Blancos.
Mourinho has reportedly agreed a two-year deal, having just gone an entire league season unbeaten with Benfica, though they did not win the Portuguese title.
Arbeloa replaced Xabi Alonso in January. He has won 17 of his 27 games in charge across all competitions (63%), though talks of dressing-room indiscipline and a failure to lead Madrid to any silverware, meant he always seemed set to be a short-term appointment.
Asked after Sunday's win over Sevilla if he was heading into his final week as Madrid boss, Arbeloa said: "A day of farewells for some players and trying to put on a good match in front of our fans. Until the last second, [we're committed] with this shirt, and me too."
Kylian Mbappe teed up Vinicius Junior for Madrid's winner against Sevilla.
Mbappe, who is the leading scorer in LaLiga this term with 24 goals, has been at the centre of a media storm surrounding rumours of a rift with the staff.
Indeed, Mbappe sensationally claimed he was Arbeloa's fourth-choice forward last week.
But Arbeloa said: "I'm very satisfied with all my players, with their effort. We're aware that we haven't met our objectives.
"I've been here for four months, and both of them tried to give their best, each with their own difficulties. I think they're two players any team in the world would want, and if they could, any team would have them.
"They're definitely two of the five most game-changing players in the world. Today it was Vini's turn to score, but Kylian did a great job. Let's see if he has better luck next weekend."
Madrid round out their season at home to Athletic Club.
