The crisis at Real Madrid continues to escalate and now even José Mourinho has weighed in on the growing conflict between Kylian Mbappé and Álvaro Arbeloa.

As tensions inside the dressing room continue to rise following internal controversies and a trophyless season, Mourinho’s name keeps being linked with the club.

Mourinho publicly backed Arbeloa

The current Benfica manager coached Arbeloa during his first spell at Real Madrid and made it clear he still feels a strong bond with the Spanish coach.

“(Arbeloa) gave his soul and his life for me as a player”.

Mourinho admitted his emotional connection with Real Madrid becomes even stronger while Arbeloa is in charge.

“When Álvaro is the coach, my connection and desire for things to go well increases even more”.

The Portuguese coach also joked about the challenges of management.

“Wait a couple of years and you’ll see how many grey hairs you’ll have”.

Mourinho again denied Real Madrid contact

The Portuguese manager once again dismissed rumors about a possible return to Madrid.

Mourinho revealed his agent informed him about a renewal proposal from Benfica, but said there was never any approach from Real Madrid.

“Regarding Real Madrid, he never told me there was any proposal to show me”.

He also insisted he would have reacted the same way even if an offer had existed.

“If he had told me, I would have answered exactly the same”.

Mou avoided discussing Florentino Pérez

Finally, Mourinho chose not to enter into controversy regarding Florentino Pérez and recent discussions involving the Real Madrid presidency.

“Who am I to comment on a president’s statements?”.

The Portuguese manager also showed respect toward the Madrid president.

“Especially not a president with Don Florentino’s history”.
