Player to watch
All eyes will once again be on Mohamed Salah. The Liverpool superstar remains the face of Egyptian football and the unquestioned leader of a national team dreaming of making history at the World Cup.
After years of shining at the highest level in Europe, Salah will look to finally leave his mark on the tournament and guide Egypt toward its best World Cup run in decades.
Omar Marmoush wants to support Salah
Beyond Salah, Egypt will also count on another major attacking weapon in Omar Marmoush, the Manchester City forward who arrives at the tournament as one of the fastest-rising African players in world football.
His pace, movement, and ability to break defensive lines make him one of the most important pieces in Hossam Hassan’s attacking system heading into the World Cup.
Hamza Abdel Karim emerges as the surprise name
One of the biggest surprises in the squad was the inclusion of Hamza Abdel Karim, the young FC Barcelona prospect who continues to rise through European football.
The talented forward is considered one of Egypt’s brightest future stars and could become one of the unexpected revelations for the Pharaohs during the tournament.
Currently ranked among Africa’s strongest national teams, Egypt will participate in only the fourth World Cup in its history.
The Pharaohs were drawn into Group G, where they will face Belgium, New Zealand, and Iran. Their opening match will come on June 15 against Belgium in what is expected to be the toughest challenge of the group stage.
