France Sends a Warning to Spain: “We Are Calm and Ready for Another Big Occasion”
Ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup semifinal, French Football Federation president Philippe Diallo expressed full confidence in Les Bleus, praising the team's mentality and Didier Deschamps' lasting legacy.
France is approaching one of the biggest matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with confidence. Ahead of the semifinal against Spain, French Football Federation (FFF) president Philippe Diallo said the squad remains calm and fully prepared for another high-pressure encounter.
"The team is calm, and the players are used to these major occasions. With every match we play, we feel closer to our objective," Diallo told L'Équipe, highlighting the positive atmosphere surrounding the French camp.
The FFF president also praised the connection between the national team and its supporters, saying the current squad has united the entire country behind a common dream.
"There is a feeling that this team brings all French people together. One of its missions is to make history while representing the entire nation," Diallo said from Boston, where France is preparing for the showdown with Spain.
Diallo described the current era as a "golden age of French football," pointing to the depth of talent and the consistent success the national team has enjoyed in recent years.
He also paid tribute to former head coach Didier Deschamps, crediting him for building a stable and highly competitive squad. According to Diallo, Deschamps' achievements justified an even longer tenure, and his influence will continue to shape French football for years to come.
Led by Kylian Mbappé and a squad filled with world-class talent, France will attempt to book another World Cup final appearance. Standing in its way, however, is a confident Spanish side, setting the stage for one of the tournament's most anticipated clashes.
