France Must Be Careful: These Players Cannot Receive Another Yellow Card
France is just one step away from another 2026 FIFA World Cup semifinal, but first it must get past a resurgent Morocco side eager for revenge after the semifinal defeat to Les Bleus at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The squad coached by Didier Deschamps boasts one of the deepest and most talented rosters in the tournament. However, three players enter the quarterfinal carrying yellow cards and would miss a potential semifinal if they are booked again against Morocco.
Michael Koné Has Proven He Can Deliver
The first player on the list is Michael Koné, who seized his opportunity after replacing Aurélien Tchouaméni, who missed the Round of 16 match because of a thigh injury.
The midfielder delivered an impressive performance, providing balance in midfield, helping build attacks from the back, and becoming one of France's most frequent long-range shooting threats. However, he received a yellow card in the 81st minute, leaving him one booking away from suspension.
The good news for Didier Deschamps is that, if Tchouaméni is fully recovered, France still has a world-class option available in central midfield. Even so, losing Koné would mean being without a substitute who has already shown he is capable of performing at the highest level.
Bradley Barcola Must Control His Aggressiveness
Another player who will need to be cautious is Bradley Barcola.
The Paris Saint-Germain winger was one of the brightest performers in France's victory over Paraguay. He consistently attacked space, took on defenders in one-on-one situations, and created dangerous opportunities down the flanks, forcing the Paraguayan defense to work relentlessly.
His aggressive approach, however, earned him a yellow card as early as the 19th minute, meaning he enters the quarterfinal one caution away from suspension.
Although France possesses outstanding attacking depth with players such as Désiré Doué and Rayan Cherki, Barcola's pace, directness, and ability to break defensive lines make him an invaluable weapon in Deschamps' attacking system.

Michael Olise Is France's Biggest Concern
The player causing the greatest concern for the French coaching staff is Michael Olise.
The Bayern Munich forward has established himself as one of France's most influential players during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His ability to beat defenders, create numerical advantages, and provide chances for teammates has made him a key piece of the French attack alongside Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé.
Against Paraguay, Olise received a yellow card in the 90+7th minute, leaving him in danger of missing a potential semifinal if he is cautioned again against Morocco.
Unlike other positions, replacing his impact would be extremely difficult. Although France possesses one of the deepest squads in the tournament, Olise's current form makes him one of the team's most irreplaceable players. His creativity, vision, and constant ability to unlock defenses have been fundamental to making Les Bleus one of the most feared attacking teams at the World Cup.
With a place in the semifinals at stake, Didier Deschamps must strike the perfect balance between maintaining France's trademark intensity and protecting three players who could prove decisive in the next round.
