Didier Deschamps issues a stern warning ahead of his final match with France
The painful elimination against Spain still weighs heavily on the French dressing room, but Didier Deschamps made it clear that his team does not intend to leave the World Cup without delivering one final response.
France’s final match at the 2026 World Cup
The French national team is still trying to recover from the blow of being eliminated in the semifinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The defeat against Spain ended Les Bleus’ hopes of reaching a third consecutive final, but Didier Deschamps will not allow his players to consider the tournament over before their final match.
The French coach delivered a firm message ahead of the third-place playoff against England.
France tries to bounce back
Les Bleus entered the match hoping to return to the title game, but they ultimately fell to a Spanish side that, according to the head coach, significantly raised its level.
“When you do not reach the final you wanted, it has to hurt. Thank God it hurts. We lost to a good Spain team that raised its level,” Deschamps said in a video published by the French national team.
