Brazil Gives Neymar An Ultimatum To Decide If He Will Play At The 2026 World Cup
Neymar’s injury situation continues to worry Brazil, and Carlo Ancelotti already has a key date to make the final decision.
Neymar raises alarms again in Brazil
Concern surrounding Neymar Jr. continues to grow just days before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Santos forward arrived at Brazil’s training camp under intense medical scrutiny after suffering another muscular injury in his right calf, a situation that has already created tension inside the coaching staff led by Carlo Ancelotti.
According to reports from Brazil, Neymar’s physical condition completely overshadowed the Seleção’s opening sessions at Granja Comary and forced the Brazilian Football Confederation to take extraordinary measures to handle the situation privately.
Brazil already has a final deadline
According to information published by Torcedores, Brazil has now established a definitive deadline to decide whether Neymar will remain in the World Cup squad.
The key date will be the friendly match against Egypt on June 6 in the United States. That game will serve as the ultimate test to determine whether the superstar is truly fit enough to compete in the tournament.
FIFA regulations allow injury replacements up to 24 hours before a team’s opening match, meaning Brazil still has room to make changes if Neymar fails to recover in time.
The injury is more serious than expected
Although Santos initially attempted to calm concerns, further medical tests reportedly confirmed a grade-two edema in Neymar’s right calf, making the situation much more delicate than originally believed.
The projected recovery timeline could stretch between three and four weeks, which has already made Neymar highly unlikely to participate in the warm-up matches against Panama and potentially several important training sessions before the tournament begins.
The Brazilian federation even temporarily closed a medical facility to guarantee total privacy during Neymar’s examinations.
Neymar continues trying to stay calm
Despite the growing internal panic, Neymar continues to publicly project confidence.
Before joining the national team, the former Barcelona and PSG star was asked by reporters about the condition of his calf and responded defiantly: “It’s here, completely intact.” Later, when questioned about whether the injury could jeopardize his World Cup, he fired back: “What’s the problem?”
However, behind the scenes, the situation appears far more concerning.
Ancelotti has already spoken directly with Neymar
According to reports, Carlo Ancelotti has already held direct conversations with the Brazilian star regarding how the situation will be managed moving forward.
Neymar has reportedly agreed to remain with the squad even if he initially takes on a reduced role while continuing his recovery process. Meanwhile, Brazil’s medical staff is working closely with Santos doctors and the player’s personal specialists to accelerate his rehabilitation before the tournament begins.
Brazil will open its 2026 World Cup campaign in Group J against Morocco, as the Seleção continues chasing its long-awaited sixth world title. But right now, all attention is focused on Neymar and a countdown that has officially begun.
