"Spain or Belgium? I Don't Care": Kylian Mbappé's Message Ahead of the World Cup Semifinals
Kylian Mbappé delivered a powerful message after helping France reach the 2026 World Cup semifinals. The French star says he doesn't care whether Spain or Belgium is next and explained why he now sees himself as France's emotional leader.
Kylian Mbappé Has No Preference: "Spain or Belgium, I Don't Care"
Kylian Mbappé continues to shine as the face of the France national team, and after helping Les Bleus eliminate Morocco to book a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup semifinals, he delivered a statement that immediately became one of the biggest talking points of the tournament.
While the football world waits to find out whether Spain or Belgium will stand in France's way, the Real Madrid forward made one thing perfectly clear: he has no preference.
According to his post-match comments in the mixed zone, Mbappé didn't hesitate when asked about France's next opponent.
"If it's Belgium, it's Belgium. If it's Spain, it's Spain. I don't care. It's a World Cup semifinal, and every game at this stage is going to be difficult," he said.
Mbappé Explains Why He Feels Like France's Leader
Beyond his goals and another Player of the Match award, the French superstar also spoke about the responsibility he now carries inside the dressing room.
With several younger players becoming key members of the national team, Mbappé acknowledged that his role has changed significantly compared to previous tournaments.
"I have to lead by example, especially emotionally. I've played more World Cup matches than most of the players in this group, so I know what this competition demands and what I need to pass on to them," he explained.
Those comments highlight just how much Mbappé has evolved. The teenager who burst onto the global stage in Russia in 2018 has become one of France's most experienced international players.
Mbappé Eases Injury Concerns After Ankle Knock
France briefly had reason to worry after Mbappé suffered an ankle knock during the victory over Morocco and was substituted before the final whistle.
Fortunately for Les Bleus, the forward quickly reassured supporters by downplaying the incident.
He confirmed that it was simply a knock and insisted he expects to be fully available for France's semifinal clash.
Mbappé also emphasized that, despite the excitement of reaching the last four, the squad remains completely focused on the bigger objective.
"We're happy to be in the semifinals, but there's still a long way to go. We know what's coming will be even tougher, and we're ready to face whatever comes next," he said.

France Has Huge Potential, but Mbappé Refuses Comparisons With the 2018 Champions
One of the most revealing moments of the interview came when Mbappé was asked whether this is France's strongest squad since the team that lifted the 2018 FIFA World Cup trophy.
Rather than embracing the comparison, the French captain offered a measured response.
He reminded reporters that the 2018 generation became world champions and later reached another World Cup final, while the current squad still has everything to prove.
Although he praised the team's enormous talent and long-term potential, he insisted that truly great teams are defined by the trophies they win.
Mbappé also reflected on facing close friend Achraf Hakimi, explaining that friendship disappears once the match begins. He admitted it will be emotional when they reunite at club level, but during the World Cup, winning is the only priority.
