It is not new that the World Cup sparks debate over the high costs of attending matches. FIFA has faced criticism over ticket prices for this edition, not including all the expenses that come with traveling to host cities. While many fans still manage to attend matches, there are often untold stories behind those trips.
Some supporters arrive in World Cup cities with little more than a match ticket, often without extra clothing or fixed accommodation, moving from game to game to follow their national teams. In many cases, lodging becomes secondary. If you’ve got $1M to spare, however, the approach is very different for the final in New York.
An ultra-luxury World Cup base in Manhattan
The Mark hotel has created a package designed for the final weekend, turning its penthouse into a private headquarters for the tournament’s closing stages.
Branded as “The Mark World Cup Extravaganza,” the experience offers exclusive use of the hotel’s top floors in one of Manhattan’s most expensive areas. The penthouse becomes a fully private space for guests during the final stretch of the competition.
What the package includes
The offer covers a four-night stay in The Mark Penthouse from Thursday, 16 July to Tuesday, 21 July 2026. It accommodates up to six guests and includes two additional rooms for staff or support teams.
A 24-hour dedicated butler service is provided throughout the stay, along with an on-call massage therapist. Guests also receive a private charter experience through New York Harbor, passing landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty.
Inside the penthouse, matches are broadcast on oversized screens with lounge seating, curated entertainment, and full service throughout the day. Guests also have access to a private gym and a cold plunge with views of the Manhattan skyline.
Private viewing and terrace experience
The penthouse setup is built around a private viewing environment for all matches, designed for extended viewing sessions and shared moments across the weekend.
The terrace adds another layer to the stay, with cocktails served in a private outdoor lounge overlooking Central Park and the Manhattan skyline. The experience includes martinis, caviar service from Caviar Kaspia at The Mark, and uninterrupted views from above Madison Avenue.
World Cup final access and helicopter transfers
For the final itself, guests are transported by private helicopter to and from the match, avoiding public crowds and travel congestion. The package includes pitch-side premium seating, exclusive lounge access, and a dedicated stadium entrance.
After the final whistle, guests return to the penthouse for a closing evening in Manhattan, rounding off a four-night stay if you have that money to spare in this extravagant experience thought only for a few.
