Liverpool reveal the huge fee Real Madrid paid to get Alexander-Arnold ready for the Club World Cup
Liverpool confirmed on Friday that Real Madrid shelled out nearly $10.8 million (converted from €10 million) to have Trent Alexander-Arnold available immediately for the upcoming Club World Cup.
Early deal for the English full-back
In an official statement, the Reds announced the departure of their right-back, stating that the Spanish club paid the fee to secure the player before the expiry of his current contract, which was originally set to run until June 30.
Thanks to the deal, Alexander-Arnold will be available for Xabi Alonso starting June 14, when Real Madrid kick off their campaign in the tournament.
Farewell after two decades of loyalty
“Liverpool will receive a fee for his services, and the transfer will be finalized once the summer window opens on June 1,” the English club explained in their official note. They also took the time to thank the player for his 20 years of dedication.
“Alexander-Arnold leaves Liverpool with the club’s full respect and appreciation for everything he’s contributed to its success,” the statement concluded
