Can Neymar's World Cup callup inspire Santos to a Copa Sudamericana win?

After being called up for the 2026 Brazil World Cup squad, Neymar will no doubt be feeling on top of the world at the moment. An injury prone past two years, patchy form and strong competition in his position saw the forward's participation in his fourth World Cup in some doubt. However, Carlo Ancelotti called up the footballer to his 26-man squad predicting that "he will be an important player."

Fans of Santos will be desperately hoping that Neymar can channel that positive energy over the next week into standout performances in their team's two remaining Copa Sudamericana group stage matches. Santos are currently on the brink of elimination, sitting in last place in Group D with just three points from four games. It's form which mirrors the struggles Santos are also having in the Brazilian league.

Santos have a home clash against San Lorenzo on Wednesday live on beIN SPORTS and a win will put the Brazilian side in a significantly stronger position with their Argentinean opponents currently leading the group but by just three points.
