The final round of the 2026 Copa Libertadores group stage is loaded with drama. Every match matters: the top two teams in each group advance to the Round of 16, third place drops into the Copa Sudamericana playoffs, and fourth is eliminated. Group A — Medellín controls its destiny

CR Flamengo are already safely through, turning the spotlight entirely toward the showdown between Estudiantes de La Plata and Independiente Medellín. It’s essentially a knockout match: the winner advances to the Libertadores Round of 16, while the loser drops into the Sudamericana playoffs. Medellín also has the advantage of qualifying with a draw.

Group B — Total chaos

This is the wildest group of the final matchday because all four clubs still have a realistic path forward. Club Nacional de Football must beat Coquimbo Unido, while Universitario de Deportes needs a win against Deportes Tolima. If both Nacional and Universitario win, qualification could come down to goal difference. At the same time, Coquimbo and Tolima can still collapse out of the top two entirely.

Group C — Fluminense under pressure

Fluminense FC host last-place Deportivo La Guaira knowing anything less than victory could be dangerous. Club Bolívar are level on points with Fluminense but own the tiebreak advantage on goal difference. Meanwhile, group leaders Independiente Rivadavia are already through. Even Deportivo La Guaira still has a slim miracle path if they win and Bolívar lose.

Group D — Boca needs goals

Boca Juniors face a massive night against Universidad Católica. A win may not even be enough — Boca likely need a victory by multiple goals to overturn the qualification scenario. Cruzeiro EC can qualify with a win if Boca also defeat Católica. If Boca fails to win, they are headed for the Sudamericana playoffs.

Group E — Platense hanging on

SC Corinthians Paulista are already through and now play Club Atlético Platense, who may only need a draw to survive. Peñarol can only reach the Sudamericana playoffs at best, while Independiente Santa Fe still have a path into the Libertadores knockout stage if they win and Platense lose.

Group F — Palmeiras and Cristal in danger

Sporting Cristal host group leaders Cerro Porteño needing a victory to have a real chance. If Cristal wins and SE Palmeiras lose to Junior FC, the Peruvians advance. A Palmeiras draw could force a tense goal-difference battle. Meanwhile, Junior can still salvage a Sudamericana playoff spot with a win if Sporting Cristal loses.

Group G — LDU Quito one step away

LDU Quito qualify with either a win or draw against Always Ready. Behind them, Club Atlético Lanús still dream of overtaking LDU if the Ecuadorians lose. However, Lanús would likely need a huge victory over leaders Mirassol FC to swing goal difference in their favor.

Group H — Battle for first place only

Rosario Central and Independiente del Valle are both already through, but their head-to-head clash will decide who finishes top of the group. Universidad Central de Venezuela FC are locked into the Sudamericana playoff position.
