Corinthians, eliminated from the Copa Libertadores, earned the right to play in the qualifying round for a spot in the round of 16 of the Copa Sudamericana by thrashing Liverpool 3-0 in the final matchday of the group stage.

With Argentinos Juniors and Independiente del Valle already qualified from Group E, the team that would play for a spot to complete the round of 16 in the Copa Sudamericana was yet to be determined. The leaders of the eight groups in that tournament directly advance to this phase.

Corinthians secured the victory with goals from Matheus Araújo (32'), Felipe Augusto (64'), and Adson (80').
