Independiente del Valle completed a dramatic turnaround by defeating Barcelona SC 2-1 on the final matchday of Group B in the 2025 Copa Libertadores, earning a spot in the Copa Sudamericana and eliminating their Ecuadorian rivals from all international competition.

Felipe Caicedo opened the scoring for Barcelona SC with a spectacular volley in the 24th minute, notching his first goal of the tournament. However, IDV roared back in the second half. Patrik Mercado equalized in the 64th minute with a powerful strike from the edge of the box, and just five minutes later, Renato Ibarra sealed the comeback with a long-range shot that left the goalkeeper helpless.

The win allowed Independiente del Valle to finish third in the group with 8 points, while Barcelona SC ended bottom with 4 points, officially knocked out of all continental competition.
