Borussia Dortmund made it clear that they do not intend to part ways easily with Félix Nmecha, one of the standout midfielders of the last season. Ole Book, the sporting director of the German club, was blunt: "I would consider a transfer extremely unlikely. Of course, astronomical sums can always be involved, but I practically rule it out for this summer."

Outstanding performance in club and national team

Nmecha, 25 years old, comes from an outstanding year. At Dortmund, he played 47 matches, scored six goals, and provided three assists. Additionally, he led key statistics in midfield, completing the most passes (1,390) and winning the most duels (162). In recoveries, only Jobe Bellingham surpassed him.

His level was further enhanced at the World Cup with Germany. There, he scored the first goal in the 7-1 rout against Curacao and assisted the decisive goal against Ivory Coast, which secured the passage to the round of 32. Despite the surprising elimination in the 32nd round against Paraguay, Nmecha was noted as one of the few who left a positive impression.

Market rumors and preseason in Japan

In recent weeks, there have been reports linking him to Newcastle United, which is looking for a replacement for Bruno Guimarães, who is set to join Arsenal. Manchester United was also mentioned as interested. However, the figure that Dortmund would demand is around 120 million euros, an amount that seems to put any serious negotiation out of reach.

Meanwhile, Nmecha has already joined the preseason in Japan, where he participated in the 1-0 victory over Tokyo FC. The team has friendly matches against Arsenal and Roma ahead, before playing the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against Bayern Munich on August 22.
