Vincent Kompany’s Medical Emergency Raises Concerns

Bayern Munich is facing a worrying situation after Vincent Kompany fainted on Friday while watching a training session involving the club’s under-23 team. The 40-year-old Belgian manager received emergency medical attention and was transported to a hospital in Munich, where he remains under medical care.

The incident caught the club by surprise, particularly because Kompany had been experiencing health issues in the days leading up to it. According to Max Eberl, Bayern’s sporting director, the manager had been dealing with a virus and had missed several training sessions. However, the cause of his collapse has yet to be confirmed.

Bayern Munich Puts the Brakes on Kompany as His Return Will Have to Wait

Eberl confirmed that the manager’s recovery will be the priority and that his absence will be measured in weeks, not days. The club will wait for the results of medical tests before setting any timeline for his return to the touchline.

“He will have all the time he needs. We are not going to start setting deadlines,” the executive told reporters. Although Bayern has important fixtures ahead, the club does not intend to pressure Kompany into returning before he is ready.

Bayern is now determined to ensure that the demands of professional football do not interfere with his recovery.

Aaron Danks Takes Charge and Avoids Tactical Discussions With Kompany

During Kompany’s absence, Aaron Danks will take charge of the first team, including the Bundesliga match against Freiburg. The assistant coach confirmed that he has already spoken with the manager, but only to check on his health.

“I told him we would not have any conversations about football. I just wanted to know how he was doing. We are taking care of everything,” Danks said.

For now, Bayern has no plans to change its Bundesliga schedule. The coaching staff will handle the team’s usual responsibilities while the club’s leadership awaits further medical information to determine the next steps.

Bayern Is Also Protecting Its Young Players

The collapse occurred during a training session involving the under-23 team, meaning several young players witnessed the medical emergency. Eberl acknowledged that the experience was particularly difficult for players aged 17 and 18 and confirmed that the club decided to postpone the reserve team’s match.

As medical tests continue, Kompany’s return remains a secondary concern. The priority is to determine the cause of the incident and respect his recovery timeline without allowing the demands of competition to become an additional source of pressure for the manager.
