Lionel Messi Reveals First Look at His Animated Series
The Argentine star unveiled the first footage from Messi and the Giants, an adventure that blends soccer, fantasy and a world ruled by giant rivals.
Lionel Messi has revealed the first trailer for Messi and the Giants, the children’s animated series built around soccer and featuring the Argentine as an executive producer.
The first look was unveiled during San Diego Comic-Con Málaga in front of more than 3,000 attendees, offering the first glimpse at the world in which the story will take place.
Messi later shared the footage on his social media channels, showing his excitement for a project that takes his connection with soccer into a completely different setting.
What Is Messi and the Giants About?
The story follows Leo, a 12-year-old boy who becomes trapped in a parallel universe ruled by giants and must find a way to return home.
To do so, he will have to play soccer matches, face legendary rivals and help rebuild the divided kingdoms of Iko. Along the way, mysterious spheres capable of giving players special powers become part of the adventure.
But there is one key difference: Leo does not have any magical abilities. His main strengths are talent, perseverance and teamwork, placing soccer and personal growth at the heart of the series.
Soccer, Fantasy and Some Argentine Flavor
The main character will be voiced in the original version by Argentine actor Milo Burgess-Webb, while the music also brings an Argentine touch.
The presentation also introduced Vamos, Vamos, Vamos, the song associated with the series and performed by Luck Ra.
The mix of soccer and fantasy makes the project very different from a traditional Messi biography: it does not tell the story of his career, but instead uses the sport as the starting point for a completely fictional adventure.
Messi Is Already Looking Ahead to the Premiere
Messi accompanied the trailer release with a message to his followers.
“I’m sharing this exclusive first look at ‘Messi and the Giants,’ which we presented at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga. I’m really looking forward to people all over the world being able to enjoy this series,” he wrote.
Messi and the Giants is scheduled to premiere in the summer of 2027, with an international streaming release and a television broadcast in the United States.
