Batlle joins Arsenal on free transfer after Barcelona exit
Arsenal have secured their fourth signing of the transfer window, with Ona Batlle making the switch to north London from Barcelona.
Arsenal continue to strengthen their squad under Renee Slegers with the signing of Ona Batlle from Barcelona.
The Spain international is the Gunners' fourth signing this summer, having welcomed Georgia Stanway, Selina Cerci and Geraldine Reuteler.
Batlle has joined on a free transfer, following the expiration of her Barcelona contract, and has reportedly put pen to paper on a four-year deal, with the option for an extra year.
The defender had returned to Barcelona after three seasons with Manchester United and made 114 appearances across all competitions in Spain, scoring 14 goals.
During that time, she won three Liga F titles, four Copa de la Reinas, three Supercopa de Espanas and two Champions Leagues – she also played in the 2025 final, which Barcelona lost to Arsenal.
"I'm very happy, very excited. I can't wait to meet everyone and start with what we like most: being on the pitch and enjoying it," she told Arsenal's media channels.
"It's one of the biggest clubs in Europe, if not the world. I think it's where I feel my game suits the best. I think how they want to play is how I want to play.
"And I wanted to be back in England. I think it's the best league and very competitive. So, I think it was perfect for me."
Batlle has previously made 59 appearances in the Women's Super League with United, while she was also an FA Cup runner-up with the Red Devils.
At international level, Batlle has made 74 appearances for Spain and won the World Cup in 2023, as well as two Nations League titles. She was also part of the team that lost the Euro 2025 final to England.
