Monaco Secure Champions Spot
AS Monaco secured their place in the Champions League with a resounding 4-1 victory over Clermont Foot. The win ensured Monaco's presence among the top four teams in the table, alongside Brest, who, despite their goalless draw against Nantes, still remain in contention for the prestigious European tournament.
Whether it's for the qualifying rounds as the fourth-placed team, ahead by six points with one more match played, or for direct qualification, Monaco has already secured their ticket to the new European elite competition for the next season. This was made possible by goals from Minamino, Embolo, and a brace from Ben Yedder against the bottom-placed Clermont Foot, who now only have the possibility of playoff to avoid relegation.
Clermont is seven points away from safety with only six games remaining. The playoff is still possible but challenging, as they are four points adrift.
Le Havre took a step forward in their battle against relegation by defeating Strasbourg 3-1. Yassine Kechta, with two goals, and Andre Ayew secured the vital victory, putting them three points clear of the playoff zone, currently occupied by Metz. Metz suffered a 2-3 defeat against Rennes in added time, despite initially leading 1-0 and later 2-1.
