Pape Matar Sarr was hospitalized after falling ill in the AFCON 2025 final.
Tottenham’s star midfielder was hospitalized after the final between Morocco and Senegal, which he spent on the substitutes’ bench. Reports say the player fell ill and wasn’t feeling well during halftime; even so, after the second half, his coach ordered him to warm up.

The causes of Sarr’s hospitalization are still unclear, although, according to the Senegalese news outlet Tagat, Krépin Diatta and Pape Matar Sarr are stable and will soon be able to join the team’s celebrations. Krépin Diatta was another player affected by an illness before the final and had to be hospitalized.
